Using a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) offers several advantages for drivers and their passengers alike. Some of these benefits include traveling to locations where conventional cars and trucks cannot, having visibility from every angle of the vehicle, and navigating challenging terrain.

Riva Motorsports, Miami understands that every UTV owner wants to get the most out of their investment, and that's why we are here to make that happen. We are your Miami, Florida's motorsport vehicles dealer and service provider dedicated to prolonging your UTV life. Read on to learn how to keep your UTV in tip-top shape.

UTV Service and Maintenance Checklist

Maintenance is crucial if you want your car to run correctly and last for many years. It can be challenging to keep up with all the maintenance and service procedures on your own, busy schedule or not. Fortunately, Riva Motorsports will take care of everything for you.

You can apply the following easy maintenance tips to keep your UTV running smoothly.

Check the Coolant Level

Check the radiator's coolant level. Examine the fluid's state. It's time for a change if it contains sludge or slime. Delaying it increases the likelihood that debris may block the engine's coolant tubes, limiting optimal cooling. The engine might overheat as a result of this. Engine components might scuff and wear as a result of expanding under heat.

Change the Engine Air Filter

An engine requires three things to run; air, gasoline, and spark. Most people overlook the air because they don't have to pay for it. A clogged air filter can stifle airflow, lower performance, or even cause the engine to shut off entirely.

Consult your owner's handbook for instructions on how often to change the air filter. Check your air filter regularly and replace it if it becomes overly dirty.

Keep the Fittings Lubricated

Your UTV has pivots everywhere, and you should ensure grease fittings protrude slightly from your automobile. These fittings may keep your UTV operating smoothly if you keep them oiled.

Change the Oil and Oil Filter

For most UTV owners, this maintenance duty is more evident, but it's still simple to overlook. To avoid putting undue pressure on your engine, it is essential to check your oil levels before riding out with your UTV.

Change the Spark Plugs

Your spark plugs may become worn out due to circumstances, such as dirty gas. Your UTV's engine may receive less power if your spark plugs are worn out. You can change the spark plugs for a reasonable price, and doing so will guarantee that your car works efficiently. If your engine is in good condition, it is usually advised to change your spark plugs after 100 hours of operation.

Check the Fuel

In between rides, we occasionally leave our equipment idle. When fuel sits in your UTV tank for long, it can cause corrosion and make it challenging for your vehicle to start. Therefore, it's a good idea to dump your tank and give your machine a fresh tank of gas when you bring it out of hibernation if you know it will be idle for six or more months.

Maintain or Replace the Battery

Batteries are simple to maintain as long as you remember to charge them. Don't abandon your UTV in the storage shed when you're done with it; instead, unplug the battery and connect it to a tender if your UTV is going into long-term storage to guarantee a full charge when you ride out again.

Check the Brakes

Ensure that the brake controls are in place and set up per the owner's instructions. Your brakes are an essential safety component that must constantly be in perfect working condition.

Replace the Belt

Examining the CVT belt drive system on your UTV is a smart idea. The belt can withstand a lot of wear and tear, but ultimately it needs to be replaced; therefore, you should periodically check on its condition. Check the tension and check for any wear and tear indicators, such as glazing or cracking, that can suggest it's time for a replacement.

Inspect the Tires

Once a month or so, walk around your UTV to check the following:

  1. Tire pressure and condition

  2. CV boots for rips or leaks

  3. State of the brake lines

  4. Lights

  5. Level of brake fluid

Inspecting tires might assist you in identifying any concerns before they become costly.
