Indian Motorcycle prides itself as America's First ever Motorcycle Company. The first motorcycle firm in America was established in 1901 by two courageous pioneering entrepreneurs, George M. Hendee and Oscar Hedstrom, under the name Indian Motorcycles. They began by taking a chance and betting everything on the motorbike, which was brand-new and unheard of to most Americans. Their enthusiasm still lives on in the expansive range of Indian Motorcycle Brands we have today. Read on to learn more about Indian Brand Motorcycles.

History of Indian Motorcycle

Originally produced beginning 1901 to 1953 in Springfield, Massachusetts, United States,

Indian Motorcycle rose to prominence as the world's leading motorcycle manufacturer in the 1910s. Some of the most popular models were the Scout and the Chief. The Indian Motorcycle factory team won the 1911 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy, taking the first three positions. Indian also established itself in the field of flat track, becoming rivals with Harley-Davidson.

Polaris Industries bought the Indian motorcycle brand in 2011, transferred the company's operations from North Carolina, and combined them with its current Minnesota and Iowa facilities. Since August 2013, Polaris has developed, built, and produced many motorbike models with historic Indian flair under the Indian Motorcycle name.

The Indian Motorcycle Model Guide

Indian Motorcycles lines up a variety of impressive and versatile motorcycle models. They include:

Indian FTR

The Indian FTR is an attention-catcher. It strikes the perfect mix between fashion and performance. The ideal fusion of a daily commuter and a weekend weapon, the FTR is powerful enough to tear down the highway while still being agile enough to handle confined spaces.

Having 17-inch wheels, an upright riding stance and a lower seat height contribute to a sure-footed, accurate ride. The gas tank is placed right below the seat to lower the center of gravity and improve weight distribution and cornering stability.

And with Brembo brakes, Akrapovic exhaust, and adjustable Ohlins suspension, the FTR is a manifestation of quality, workmanship, tradition, and power. With DNA proven in the American Flat Track, The legacy continues with more improvements to the famous FTR platform, taking street performance, approachability, and control to a whole other level.

Indian Scout

The Indian Scout is the company's interpretation of what the iconic 1928 motorbike would have become if it had been produced indefinitely. The Scout Sixty is one of the bikes in the Scout range with a lower displacement engine (specs) designed for beginner riders.

This model comes packed with a 69-cubic-inch V-Twin engine with liquid cooling and a 5,900 rpm output of 100 horsepower and 72.2 lb-ft. Highway driving is easy thanks to its seamless power delivery. The styling is spectacular, with the dual chromed mufflers, single saddle, and V-Twin taking center stage.

Indian Chief

A wide range of riders searching for a V-twin cruiser with an artistic and customizable appearance may now choose from extra trim levels that have been added to the portfolio since the original Indian Chief was first released in 1921.

A highly current full-color TFT display offers bike and ride information and turn-by-turn navigation for more expensive models. Modern technology is also found in every model, including riding modes, cruise control, rear cylinder deactivation, and LED lighting.

Indian Vintage

The Indian Vintage can be the ideal motorbike for you if you're looking for an antique look. The Thunderstroke 111 V-twin easily manages the drive, and the leather saddlebags, wire wheels, and whitewall tires immediately make it clear you have fond memories of the good old days.

Indian Springfield

Indian Motorcycle capitalizes on its strong design heritage with the Springfield model, which debuted in 2016 and has been carried over into the 2022 model year with little exception to minor color changes. Even though this specific vehicle has ABS and keyless ignition and is powered by what was Indian's biggest production engine before 2020, sales of this particular model are mostly driven by its vintage, old-school bagger aesthetics.

Indian Chieftain

If you are a highway cruise enthusiast, the Indian Chieftain should be on the top of your list of bikes as it comes with luxury comforts like extra wind protection, a multimedia system, and a banging stereo system. The Chieftain, powered by the Thunder Stroke 111 V-Twin, blends seamless power with comfortable riding ergonomics for a soft and luxurious ride. This model comes complete with cruise control and other modern riding technologies.

Indian Challenger

If you want your bagger to seem a little more contemporary, the Indian Challenger could be the right choice. This motorcycle's 122 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque ensures you have power for days. The inverted front suspension, lightweight cast aluminum frame, and adjustable rear Fox shock ensure you tackle bends easily.

Indian Roadmaster

The 2015 Indian Roadmaster is an iconic cruise bike built upon the Roadmaster name of the 1940s. It has many features, including cruise control ABS, hard saddlebags with remote locks, heated seats for the driver and passenger, heated grips, keyless ignition, and a power windscreen.
